Spitfires Coach/Manager Responsibilities
General:
- Act as the official team contact for the club/league/district.
Preseason:
- Ensure your team has enough players. Manage player selection.
- Get the equipment & jerseys from the club.
- Print out your players' emergency info and put it in the first-aid kit. (See "Tools" at bottom of page for how.)

- Consult your team about where/when/if you'll practice.
- Consult your team about sub'ing -- who will manage it & how.
- Consult your team about social activities (beer!)
- Consult your team about entering tournaments
- Get all the signatures you need to call-up players on a blank form that you can photocopy as needed.
- Delegate some of your responsibilities!
Season:
- Ensure there are enough players at each game; call up people if necessary. If you want to trial a new player without registering him/her, click here.
- Follow the game day check list.
- Handle any discipline infringements. Keep play safe and fun.
- Keep the first-aid kit stocked.
- Avoid OCSL and NCISL fines. Other leagues will have similar rules. Check for them.
- Optional
- Send reminders about game/practice location/time.
- Assist with carpool arrangements.
Postseason:
- Track down and recover any the missing jerseys.
- Return the equipment & jerseys to the club. Tell the equipment manager about anything lost or broken that needs replacing.
- Attend the fall club exec meeting.
Tools to help you:
The webgrunt will give you admin access to our database. Then, when you Sign in to our website, you'll get an admin button which will let you in to:
- send e-mails to your team
- list your players' emergency info for the first-aid kit
- list your players' carpool info to help getting to distant games
- see/modify your players' availability.
- see/create/modify your team schedule.
- enter game reports for the club.
The webgrunt will, with luck, be able to automatically fetch your team's regular schedule from the league's website. If so, you'll only need the database schedule tool to add events like tournaments and parties.
