Covid-19 and 2021 Soccer

Current Status

The province of Ontario recently announced a phased in approach for sporting activities.

Step 1 (began June 11) - Training in groups of 10 or less with social distancing

Step 2 (begins at least 21 days after step 1 starts) - league play permitted

Step 3 (begins at least 21 days after step 2 starts) - indoor sports, less restrictions

The OCSL plans to offer 7v7 and 11v11 divisions this summer, consistent with Return to Play guidelines. Details here

The NCISL has announced plans for 7v7 leagues as well.Details here

West Ottawa Soccer Club is running 7v7 leagues also.

Spitfires are coordinating teams to participate in these summer leagues. If you have not already been contacted, please email the club to indicate your interest.

What you need to know before returning to sanctioned soccer

   • Covid-19 symptoms checklist

Player Protocols

   • It is recommended that all players complete the Ontario Covid-19 Self Assessment App

   • If you experience any of the symptoms, please follow recommendations and contact your medical health provider.

   • Do not carpool unless with immediate family members.

   • Respect physical distancing.

   • Do not congregate at the facility entry point.

   • Do not use change rooms. Arrive ready to play or change in an outdoor area while respecting physical distancing.

   • Bring your own water bottle clearly labelled with your name. Do not share water bottles.

   • All non-essential contacts should be avoided (handshakes, high fives).

   • Use only your own equipment.

After the provincial state of emergency has been lifted, Spitfires will plan to hold our Annual General Meeting within 90 days.
